Day 4: Today was basically a lost day - not that I played any more blackjack and lost, just that I ended up watching football and taking a nap most of the day. I finally showered and got dressed about 7:30PM, hungry and ready for Javier’s, my favorite Mexican restaurant. Located inside Aria, the food never disappoints. I ordered a chicken breast quesadilla, chips and salsa and ordered a signature margarita named “amor de mujer” which, according to Google translate, means “love of a woman”. It was silver tequila mixed with Chambord and was very tasty.
I spent the evening watching a Two and a Half Men marathon then going to bed.
Day 5: This morning, I walked the Strip taking photos and, while doing so, remembered that I had won $800 this summer in Atlantic City. As such, my YTD is actually not that bad at -2875 — only a gambler could rationalize a huge trip loss this way.
Having some lunch now at the Aria Cafe (to use up my last $23 of food and beverage credit for the trip). I decided upon the classic burger and fries with a side of BBQ sauce. YUM!
After walking the Strip in the morning, I took a respite in the room. I thought about playing some more blackjack but decided that I would just leave well enough alone, accept the loss from this trip and think about where to use my Caesars Rewards Diamond Celebration $100 dinner voucher. In the past, I’ve used it at the Flamingo steakhouse which was always excellent. Having made the decision on where to eat, I walked down the Strip from the Nomad in the beautiful Vegas night air. I made it to the Flamingo and walked towards the steakhouse - or rather, where the steakhouse used to be as, apparently, the Flamingo is revamping that entire corridor. I then decided to head to Bally’s and try BLT Steak. I sat at the bar and conversed with an older woman from Texas and another woman from California - they were both using their Diamond Celebration vouchers as well. Instead of traditional bread, the bartender put out popovers baked with Gruyère cheese. I ordered a filet mignon with truffle mashed potatoes. The potatoes were excellent but the steak was a little on the dry side. I then headed south on the Strip back towards the Nomad.
Overheard during my nighttime walk:
One guy to another guy in Crystals: “You know, Aria and Cosmo co-own this mall and split all the profits.” (WTF - no they don’t!)
Husband to wife: “We should just take our $5,000 and put in on one spin of roulette” (that might not be a bad idea - unless they were putting it on one number)
Girlfriend to boyfriend: “WE ARE NEVER COMING TO VEGAS AGAIN!”
That seems like the perfect spot to end this blog - sweet dreams.
